The famous Kamakhya temple for Tantra Sadhana and Aghories is 10 kilos meters away from Guwahati, Assam. This temple is situated on a mountain named Nilanchal. This temple is considered to be one of the 51 Shaktipeeths.
According to the Shiv Maha Purana, a part of Lord Sati’s waist was cut and fell on this hill. And where this piece fell, the Kamakhya temple was built. In this temple, instead of the idol, you will see a vagie-like structure called a vagie furrow. Which is called the Sati’s vagie.

Kamakhya Temple is also considered to be the centre of world construction. Because all the organisms in the world originate from the woman’s vagie. And this very powerful vagie is also worshipped here.
Tourists come from far away and fulfil their wishes. Especially here you will find saints because saints are devotees of Shiva. And Kamakhya Devi, who was the wife of Shiva, is very pleased by her worship.

Kamakhya Devi Temple History
According to Shiva Maha Purana, Sati’s father invited Sati for hawan (worship) but Lord Shiva didn’t give permission to Sati. Because Lord Shiva was not allowing Sati to go to Havan. In the end, Sati had to quarrel with Lord Shiva. Then she was able to go to her father’s havan.
Sati’s father strongly condemned Shiva. But Sati herself understood the reason for this insult and threw herself into the same havan. Then Lord Shiva became very angry to see this and after picking up Sati, he started tandava the whole universe. Wait… let me tell you that to do Shiva’s tandava means that the whole world is going to destroy. And to avoid this tandava, Lord Vishnu cut 108 pieces of Sati from his Sudarshan Chakra.
They fell in different parts of India. And the vagie part of Sati fell on Nilanchal mountain in Assam. And so the temple was built here. At the same time, this place also came to be seen as a symbol of women’s power. There are a total of 51 Shaktipeeths in India, out of which this Kamakhya temple is also one of them. If you go here, then you too will feel the sacred place and the power of the Kamakhya Devi.
A story is also believed that the love story of Shivji and Sati started from here. After which both of them got married. A story also assumes that when Kamarupi Kamadeva lost his manpower, he regained his manpower from Sati’s vagie.
